Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) organizes Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE), annually. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) conducts Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) for admission to its five-year Integrated M.A. programme.

All the applicants who wish to get enrolled into the five-year integrated postgraduate courses of the institute, have to take the first step by appearing in the entrance examination. After successfully passing the HSEE Test, students get shortlisted for the programme. The institute conducts entrance test at its test centers across India. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates meet HSEE 2018 eligibility criteria if they have cleared any of the below mentioned examinations with qualifying marks in 2017 or are appearing for them in 2018:
  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • HSC vocational examination.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Age Limit: General category candidates are eligible to apply for HSEE 2018 if they are born on or after October 1, 1993. SC/ST/PwD candidates are given age relaxation of 5 years.

The HSEE exam is of total 3 hours and divided into two parts as below:

HSEE Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, aspirants are awarded one mark. There is no negative marking in IIT HSEE.
